Travel meme time! The latest is “7 Super Shots” started by HostelBookers and graciously passed along to me by HapiDayz travel blog. This one’s pretty simple: select 7 photos that fit into 7 categories and then nominate 5 others to share the same. Here are mine.

A PHOTO THAT…
Takes my breath away:
I think this was at the top of Haleakala in Hawaii. The wind was so strong, I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t stand. All I could do was move my jaw in a silent guffaw at the absurdity of the situation.
Makes me laugh or smile:
I know I just recently posted this photo of monkeys in the Serengeti, but this photo cracks me up. Cracks. Me. Up.
Makes me dream:
This was shot in Curacao during the first big trip J and I ever went on together. On one of our last days, J decided to take one final swim as the sun was setting. I was sitting on a deck eating ice cream. When I find myself missing summer, I daydream about moments like these.
Makes me think:
Colorado is one of those places that I think it is gorgeous, inside and out. The people I met there were so friendly, I was constantly paranoid that I was getting conned or that someone was trying to sell me something. But they were honestly just being nice. It made me realize how much NYC had jaded me.
Makes my mouth water:
A sandwich made from freshly caught fish in Istanbul. That day, when I was feeling a bit lonely wandering the city by myself, finding the fish sandwich gave me a sense of peace and fulfillment.
Tells a story:
J and I decided to try out dogsledding during a weekend trip to Pennsylvania. When it was my turn to mush, I misheard what the instructor said and accidentally took my foot off the brake a bit early and the dogs started moving forward. The instructor went bonkers and starting screaming at me. You can see him mid scream and point in this photo.
I am most proud of (aka my worthy of National Geographic shot):
Not necessarily the photo I’m most proud of, but I do like it a lot. I enjoy the simplicity and colors of this image. I was in Long Beach, New York with friends for a day and the beach was completely packed, but this was a quiet moment in the midst of it all.
And now, 5 bloggers whose 7 Super Shots I’d like to see:

Fun concept, not so fun in execution that day! Something I’ll have to try again another time.

Thanks! I know, photography is a huge part luck! I am forever missing shots by half a second so it’s always nice when one actually comes out.

It was one of the best meals I had in Turkey! Sometimes simple is best.

Thanks for including us! We only have access to the pictures we’ve taken on the road in the last 4 months (though to be honest that’s THOUSANDS of photos!) so we’ll sift through and see what we come up with.
